Field Service Representative- Ft. Riley, KS
Field Service Representative (Transmission Support). This is a full time position located off-site at a military site at Ft. Riley (Manhattan, KS). The successful candidate will reside within a daily commutable distance of the work site. The position will require travel from the site to L3 CPS, Muskegon, MI on a periodic basis. This position will also require travel and support at other military facilities within the Continental United States (CONUS) on a regular basis. Travel will be via company vehicle or air depending on the situation. Extended travel for periods of up to 30 days or longer may be required to support the military units during exercises at remote locations. The selected candidate will provide technical support and solutions to customers for HMPT Transmissions. Occasional work on the AVDS-1790 engine or other L3 products may also be required, with proper training and support from CPS Muskegon. The candidate must apply an understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts of product and components in addition to general knowledge of related disciplines. Hands-on troubleshooting and repair in adverse environments is required. Will work closely with both Government and other Vendor senior support personnel on site. Required to communicate regularly with management and engineering team in Muskegon and draw upon the knowledge and resources at L3 CPS. Must provide individual malfunction reports and weekly reports in a timely manner. Must cultivate and maintain inter-organizational relationships and outside customer contacts. Provide Operations, Introductory, and Unit Maintenance Training as required, sometimes in front of a large group. Provide assistance to troubleshoot hardware deficiencies found during product testing and support field testing as required. Provide input to Technical Publications (Repair and Parts manuals) and failure analysis reports.
Associates degree in mechanical or electrical systems or diploma from trade school desired.
5-9 years minimum hands-on mechanical/repair/testing experience in technical support of power train components. In addition to degree or degree-equivalent; customer/field experience in Bradley and/or HMPT support very highly desired and preferred.
Must be able to provide hands-on and theory of operation training to U.S military personnel.
Travel is required (domestic and international). Must be willing to travel by air.
Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required (beginner level minimum).
Vehicle access capability required. Must be able to meet the anthropometric requirements for combat vehicle ingress and egress.
Must have good written and verbal English language communication skills.
Must be able to diplomatically commicate with customer and L3 personnel and maintain composure, especially in stressful situations.
Must maintain a professional appearance at all times, including personal, work space, and company provided equipment.
Since this position is located at a customer site, must show complete respect for all customer personnel, facilities, and equipment at all times.
Must be able to move freely, with or without accommodations, throughout the manufacturing/military environment.
Previously held security clearance preferred. Ability to get security clearance required.
